Soooooooo, what’s occurring this eve for all you BASS LOVERZ??!! We’re back in Aberystwyth @ The Angel for more GOOD TINGZ from the FRAKTAL FAM tonight. Our very own K SAMRAI is gonna be there, only warming up for the MAGNIFICENT MOVING FUSION!! SON OF A MONKEY!! Excited Much!!

Therez no way that anyone into Drum N Bass would not have heard 1 or 2 of MOVING FUSION’s tunez! Part of the Original Drum N Bass Massive, Jeff Langton & Daniel Sparham have been making beats since the 90′s and put together ‘Turbulance’ with an Atari computer, Akai sampler and speakers! This was released on RAM RECORDS in 1996.

As one comment on You Tube states, ‘If you don’t like this, then you don’t like Drum N Bass! Simple.’ Since parting ways and reuniting as a duo in 2011, MOVING FUSION have been snapped up by VIPER RECORDINGS who also boast artists such as MATRIX AND FUTUREBOUND, INSIDE INFO & KOVEN. Happy Saturday you lot!!! It has to be said it’s a LUSH day outside and It’s Tip Top Tastic to be up and abourt and Bright and Breezy for a Saturday morning! Go me!! I was MIA last weekend following a voluntary abduction on Friday evening by several Swansea Bass Addicts! (You know who you are!) They forced me to voluntarily stay untill Sunday AND listen to LOADSA BASS untill I voluntarily left!! Phew! So anyway, after 3- 5 days reflection/recovery, here we are! Discussion over breakfast it is then?! Tidy!

So what’s everyone think of this new tune from Danny Byrd featuring no other than the AweSoMe RONI SIZE??!!

I’ve gotta say the jury’s still out on this 1! Although highly amusing, the video baffles me! And the tune, which is punchy-ish and bassy-ish and liquid-ish…..and has muppets??? Is definately not the most intelligent or dance friendly tune created by either producer. It will undoubtedly be a BANGER though! Their reputations combined with a healthy dose of Radio 1 collaboration are a sure winner! PA ha!!

Speaking of Roni Size it’s only fair to comend him for his services to Drum n Bass over the last 20 years! Hail Roni! An integral piece of the jigsaw in an era which saw Roni Size, LTJ Bukem and Goldie develop ‘Drum n Bass’ from it’s Jungle roots, bringing it to the masses. On a performance level, his upbeat, BLATANT BANGINGNESS has never dissappointed on a night out, always managing to to work up the crowd into a frenzy!”! BOOYA! It was also at 1 of his gigs @ Cardiff Uni NYE 2003 where I was introduced to High Contrast as his support act! Another Legend! Thank you! So taking it back a decade, here’s an old classic for your pleasure!!

Danny Byrd, what to say?? Bit of a name dropper?!! Ha Ha! He likes to ‘feature’ people and has collaborated with all the ‘in crowd’ such as Netsky, Brookes Brothers etc… He seems to like to make old classics faster, less melodic and euphoric by adding dub step esq noises accompanied by standard drum loops. If you’re under 20, you’ll probably get this more than me! Anyway, here’s an example of an old skool classic gone BYRD!!

 Definiately FOOD FOR THOUGHT IN THE BREAKFAST HOUR!! What du reckon? Am I full of shit or totally RIGHT as normal?? Comments welcome! YES  YES YES!! FRAKTAL FUNKIN’ FEBRUARY is upon us at last!

On FEBRUARY 22nd at Monkey Bar Swansea, Aberystwyth based Party Collective FRAKTAL are launching their FRESH and FABULOUS night of BEATS, BREAKS AND BASS for our Booty Shaking requirements.

The FRAKTAL FAMILY was formed and is fronted by a rather energetic and inspirational young man going by the name of Will Short. The success of FRAKTAL was born from Will’s vision to create the ideal ‘Party Vibe’. An established DJ himself, Will desired to create an environment that could be used as a platform for both new talent, and established DJs to perform, and demonstrate their skills to the ever eager Bass hungry masses! The concept of ‘Old Skool Values’ is integral in Will’s ideal, and the desire and moreover his ability, to create a successful Music-Fest with a real playful feel and a happy style, is exactly what makes the FRAKTAL events work so well. 

So what about the music? Let’s say you can expect the unexpected! Old Skool, Breaks, DnB, Jungle, Grime, Dub Step and some DIRTY STINKING BASS!! The FRAKTAL team certainly have an uncanny knack to spot the next new thing. Their February listings include 2 times winner of Best New DJ @ Breakspoll JAMES D’LEY, a rather sexy sounding lyrical lunatic MC INCYTE, Supersonic Bad Bwoy SPECIMEN A and Upside down and Inside Out INSIDEINFO!! However, unlike a lot of current events which rely on big names to draw in the crowd, resulting in a sometimes bland and disconnected crowd, FRAKTAL’S Old Skool Party Vibe is essentially created and maintained by his carefully chosen residents and the fan base that organically spreads the word and keeps the party going!!

Naw te, there’s exactly 20 days to go before FRAKTAL explode onto the Swansea scene!! I’m off to Aberystwyth on Friday 08th February for FRAKTAL’s 1st BIRTHDAY BASH….YAY!!! Pictures and anecdotes to follow of course. Aside from that, I’ve got you an exclusive interview with mixing wizard James D’ley and tracks from all the residents and guest DJs to get your dancing feet in the mood!! YAY!!!!

NO 1: My favourite of the 3! Kid Panel: Party Non Stop (Agent K remix)..OOOOOOoooffffffff!  ‘This is MASSIVE! A guaranteed Dance Floor Killer! I could use this tune as a natural high as it gave me goosebumps ha ha!!  I’m gonna put this under the umbrella of ‘Banging Dance Music!’  It captures the essence of party vibez and spits it back out of the speakers! It’s  Bolshevik style melody is beautiful and euphoric and  is superbly  contrasted by one of the most filthy, stinking bass lines you can imagine! It really, really works! Get your ears round this!

NO2: Marv in Blue: Got the Power (1994 Original Mix) More heavy, heavy bass mixed with melodic loveliness!! I’m coining this tune as ‘DUBBY DUBBY JUNGLE!’ Yes man! It successfully molds together an old skool jungle beats and a rolling bass vibe, reminiscent of LTJ Bukem in the late 90′s, with a modern day, deep, stinking, dub step esq bass which is guaranteed to shake any dance floor! You know you wanna…here’s the link!

No 3: UFO-Project: The flow is fat  Another example of truly modern dance music! It’s Breakbeat, Dubstep, with elements of house and rave all spliced together! Not melodic but electronic with a fat dose of speaker smashing bass! Here you go!

Well I suddenly realised that I didn’t tell you who made that remix I keep banging out about, you know, the one of Luniz ‘I got 5 on it’??  Luckily for you guys, a little birdy tells me that the  remix was actually made by no other than the original….JFB!! YAY!! This guy is talented fair play! He’s already been the winner  of UK DMC championships in 2007, and now regularly collaborates with Beardyman. He can Beatjuggle, he can Scratch, he can Mix like a wizard and he can definitely do awesome freaking remixes!!! YES MAN!! YO YO YOOOOOOOOOOO MY JUNGLIST FRIENDS!!! How have we all been?? I’ve been in my element, soaking up the summer sun, (unusual for us Brits as you know!) and have been fortunate enough to attend the most marvelous festival ‘NOZSTOCK The Hidden Valley.’ I was sooooooooooo excited by the Drum n Bass goodness inside those fields, I just had to share this new found knowledge with my lovely Junglised Bass Family!!

The Drum n Bass line up at NOZSTOCK was impeccable…you could say even naughty with acts including Andy C, Tricka Technology, Camo and Krooked and Drumsound and Bassline Smith…there was plenty to celebrate let me tell you! But I digress…the excitement is too much, cause I really really wanna write and tell you about DYNAMITE MC!!!

If you don’t know who this guy is then you should!! This DYNAMITE MC has been exploding on the scene since the 1990′s. Making his name on pirate radio station CRUSH FM. He’s worked with world class  artists such as Roni Size, Netsky, The Nextmen, Caspa, DJ Skitz, Scratch Perverts, Andy C, High Contrast and DJ Zinc but to name a few, even winning the Mercury Music Prize in 1997 with the Reprazent collective and their album New Forms.

I wanted to get this blog up before BOOMTOWN FAIR as if any of you guys are going you need to get you’re sweet behinds down to ‘witness the fitness’ that is DYNAMITE MC!! Gush Gush….Yeah Yeah..but seriously..having been a fan of DYNAMITE MC‘s cheeky banter for a while, I was looking forward to seeing the man himself…….and he certainly did not disappoint!! In all fairness, he had backup, Krafty Kuts (the Joe Calzaghe of mixing!) and A skills (the clue is in the name!) played an absolute blinder of a set which was greatly enhanced by the performance and eloquence of DYNAMITE MC. His persona absolutely stole the show and he worked the crowd up to a frenzy.(Which I’m sooooooo happy to say I was a part of!!) If you want interaction with the crowd he’s your man!! With his old skool style, he’s incredible at building up the hype, acting like he and the DJs are one entity of MUSIC MIGHT!!! Never lyrically overbearing allowing you to enjoy the tunes as well. ! Both at the excellent age of ‘twenty-fifteen’, BROOKER & BULLET  have been involved in the music scene since late 80′s Hip Hop culture. Both making beats and jazzing up dull grey walls with urban graffiti art pieces. (PRAISE BE!!) Their shift into the Drum ‘n’ Bass scene was gradual and was a consummation of a mass of musical influences. They originally experimented with break beats, combining them with Deep Funk, Soul, Jazz & Hip Hop before becoming attracted to the harder side of dance music, namely the rolling dark Jungle bass lines! BASS FACE!! Since that fateful day, (When BULLET heard DJ Randall!) they’ve taken their love of  D ‘n’ B all the way!

Bullet & Brooker

These guys are VINYL ADDICTS!! Using only vinyl, they’ve avoided the more ‘crowd pleasing’ tunes, opting for white labels and more obscure tracks that convey their own unique style of dark and minimal drum and bass. Not willing to jump ship from the trusted Technics 12/10′s, Brooker informs me that they have compiled literally thousands of records over the years,  now being stored in a dedicated vinyl vault at his home! (I wanna go there!It must be like being a kid in sweetshop! )

Not ones to change their style in accordance with the ever changing trends and sub genres of the UK Drum ‘n’ Bass scene BROOKER & BULLET  seemed to have honed their own style of intelligent Drum ‘n’ Bass. Sounds ranging from the almost ambient trance like sounds and tribal drums reminiscent of LTJ Bukem and Goldie, to dark, alien and industrial noises from the darker side of Jungle. I won’t lie, these sets take you dancing to some weird places at times! It’s not music for the faint hearted that’s for sure! It’s fairy balanced though and gives you a rest with interludes of piano riffs, harmonies and beautiful vocals. Phew!

Anyway, enough of my yakking for 5 minutes while you check out this set!! Brooker and Bullet Feb 2012 mp3  It’s what their all about! It opens with ‘c4c, Cause for Concern (promo mix)’ which is an absolute BLINDER of a tune! The first 5 minutes tell you everything you need to know about what you can expect from this mix, and don’t worry it certainly delivers!!
